Mailroom Associate, Operations Department

Job Description

Applicants must be a full time LAFS student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Location where the student will perform his/her duties:

Mailroom located in 6353 Sunset Blvd. This role will also require delivering mail and/or deliveries throughout the campus. 

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

Temporary assistance in the mailroom until July 2024

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages/deliveries according to established service standards
  • Prepare shipments, enter packing information into the appropriate shipping system, and inspect mail and packages for damage.
  • Process incoming and/or outgoing USPS, UPS, DHL and FedEx packages utilizing postage meters, scales, presort mail, certified mail etc.
  • Enter recipient and sender info into the appropriate shipping system using USPS, UPS, DHL and FedEx etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information, data and materials.

General qualifications for the position:

  • Ability to follow standardized operating procedures.
  • Ability to repetitively reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping; moving through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces, over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps; walking up and down stairs, service ramps and using elevators.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry, pull, push and transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit as required to perform all job functions.
  • Ability to operate PCs, handheld devices, mailing and shipping equipment/software (scales, meter machines, etc.) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software applications quickly
