We offer students new school supplies and backpacks so they feel proud and comfortable at school. The Skid Row Learning Center (SRLC) in downtown Los Angeles is a unique School on Wheels space that offers a safe and fun learning environment where students experiencing homelessness can access support after school. Students are served a meal, after which they rotate between academic stations that include homework, digital learning, and enrichment. Finally, students get some free time to play. We have gaming computers, a large library, a music room with recording equipment, a variety of board games, and an art center. Our SRLC volunteers love being able to both support students academically and engage socially with students to build positive and impactful relationships.
