The main location will be the IMT office in B1-4th floor. But will need to move across all building as needed by the tasks.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

The main purpose is to help students who walk-in for IT assistance. To pick up calls to the helpdesk line. And to assist the IMT
Specialist in their daily tasks. 

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

  • Pick up calls on the helpdesk line
  • Pick up or drop off package in the mailroom
  • Assist student by following the knowledge base provided
  • Move IT equipment is needed
  • Pull cables if require
  • Dismantle equipment if needed

General qualifications for the position:

  • Be cordiale and be able to clearly communicate to student of staff who walk-in the office or over the phone
  • Follow the documentation provided to resolve problems
  • Be able to work autonomously
  • Desire to help follow students

Location where the student will perform his/her duties:

AV Tech, Main Theatre, Ivar Theatre, B2 Theatre, Brain Lobby, LARS, any classroom.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

This is a support position within the Audio Visual and Events team that reports to the Audio-Visual Manager or Staff Technicians. Follows policies, rules, and regulations of LAFS and the IMT Department. Excellent customer service skills with fellow students, staff, faculty, and external clients. The number of hours and shifts will vary per week depending upon events. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be necessary.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

  • Set-up, test, and operate Audio-Visual equipment for events, meetings, and lectures.
  • Rehearse and run through technical event details with presenters and performers.
  • Operate multi-channel audio consoles, lighting boards, and camera controllers / switchers.
  • Set-up microphones, direct boxes, and interfaces for presenters and musical performers
  • Set-up and operate projectors and video cameras.
  • Ensure all AV equipment is operational. Repair or clean equipment when necessary.
  • Label any broken equipment and communicate problems to manager/supervisor.
  • Tape down and dress all loose wire and cable.
  • Check delivered equipment and room set-up against order.
  • Communicate any additions or deletions to manager/supervisor.
  • Assist and instruct guests/customers regarding proper usage and operation of AV equipment, and monitor equipment operation at appropriate intervals.
  • Breakdown, remove and secure equipment when not in use.

General qualifications for the position:

  • Must have experience operating sound and/or stage lighting equipment.
  • Basic understanding of sound, stage, and lighting maintenance.
  • Familiarity with measuring sound levels, patching cords, changing, and arranging stage lights.
  • Must have experience in sound design, lighting design, and/or videography.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be a team player and willing to work independently.
  • Must be a currently registered student and be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • Basic audio and electronics knowledge
  • Multi-channel mixer operation and gain structure
  • Equalization ear training and room correction techniques
  • Wireless microphone operation and theory
  • Digital video projection operation, format and resolution standards
  • Computer/projector interface procedures
  • PC and Mac knowledge

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

This is a support position within the LARS Equipment Room and Audio team that reports to the Audio Tech Manager or Staff Technicians. Follows policies, rules, and regulations of LARS and the IMT Department. Excellent customer service skills with fellow students, staff, faculty, and external clients. The number of hours and shifts will vary per week depending upon bookings and events. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be necessary.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

  • Prepare studios / venues for sessions, ensuring proper audio routing and playback.
  • Assist students with DAW / Console configuration and production workflows.
  • Set-up microphones, direct boxes, and interfaces for engineers and musical performers.
  • Set-up and operate recording consoles and outboard gear.
  • Ensure all Audio equipment is operational. Repair or clean equipment when necessary. Label any broken equipment and communicate problems to manager/supervisor.
  • Tape down and dress all loose wire and cable.
  • Assist and instruct students/guests regarding proper usage and operation of Audio equipment, and monitor equipment operation at appropriate intervals.

Assist Equipment Room Team with Equipment Prep, – Pull equipment and organize it by project/Group, after check-in, Return Equipment to shelves
Organize, and properly wrap gear after, as needed.
Assist Students with Equipment Load-in and Load-Out – Help students load and unload equipment from their vehicles.
Work with Stage Assistant and Stage Manager to assist with classes on stages, monitor the safe use of equipment

General qualifications for the position:

Must have completed Cinematography II.
