• Assist with planning and execution of Student Advising activities (The Critical Thinkers Society, Multicultural Celebration, etc.)
• Create fun and educational activities in line with Student Advising’s mission.
• Act as an informed resource for all students regarding matters related to extra-curricular activities.
• Collaborate with staff, faculty, and students when required
• Attend all events hosted by Student Advising
• Assist with administrative duties associated with event planning and organizing program materials

General qualifications for the position:

• Completion of at least 4 terms in one of our degree programs
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated record of reliability, creativity, and leadership
• Capacity to lead discussions, team activities, and effectively interact with diverse populations
• Maintain a GPA of 2.5, remain in good standing, and have a clear judicial history.

Peer tutors support fellow students through one-on-one and group tutoring services delivered through online methods.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

Peer Tutors support fellow students through online tutoring services. They help clarify course lessons, projects, and course content and promote strong study skills. Tutors conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one and group tutoring sessions throughout the term as needed. Peer Tutors do not provide answers to quizzes or assignments, but work with students to model problem solving strategies and explain course-specific concepts in compliance with university academic honesty standards.

General qualifications for the position:

Peer Tutors must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have successfully completed at least 8 months of online classes. They must also be based in CA or FL, work 5-20 hours per week, and have strong study skills and command of remote tools like Zoom and Discord. Peer Tutors for this position must be enrolled in the Digital Filmmaking program or hold a previous degree in a related field.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, this position is currently a hybrid role/both remote and on campus.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

The events team 1 member should have an upbeat, positive, outgoing individual helping the events team. Duties will include but are not limited to: coordinating logistics leading up to the event with outside vendors and internal staff, data entry, planning & execution of events, and day-to-day support to the Events department. Must be dependable with respect to attendance and punctuality, reliable, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, high energy, and must possess strong technology skills with standard software. This position is expected to wear many hats in order to support the events coordination department and help the company achieve its retention goals. Excellent communication and listening skills are a must. Must also be a team player with a positive attitude and desire to make a difference.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

– Flexibility in schedule (including 1 Saturday of the month for Virtual All-Access-Studio Tour)
– Help with greeting guests, virtual check-ins, and assisting with live streamed student orientation/appreciation events
– Assistance running/coordination of virtual evening panels and/or other evening events
– Administrative & secretarial support to the events department including but not limited to:
• Updating png/pdf graduation invitations
• Researching vendors for graduation cap & gowns
• Maintaining list of past graduation speakers
• Create slide presentation for monthly events on 6363 TV/Dell Garden Monitors which highlights Black History, Hispanic History Month, LGBTQ+ month Women’s History Month and more
• Update, log and track event numbers on Important guests spreadsheet
• Research and update alumni/graduate work in the industry
• Communicating with student store customers
– Data entry, faxing, and filing
– Must have reliable transportation and reliable internet/wifi-connection
– Maintain existing systems
– Coordinate schedules & help prepare other presentations

General qualifications for the position:

– Must be well organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Must be able to efficiently handle multiple projects with competing deadlines
– PC computer skills are a must – including Microsoft Word and Excel
– Other program or computer tech skills a plus (zoom, youtube, facebook)
– Must take pride in providing high quality, detailed work

Hybrid: 10 hours/week. 5 hours weekly onsite at The Sims Library of Poetry (2702 W. Florence Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90043) and 5 hours working remotely use of your own DSLR camera is preferred.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

The Community Literature Initiative (CLI) is seeking a Videographer and Video
Editor to be part of the team that creates content to promote our organization
and poetry community on social media. In this role, you will be responsible for
operating the camera and editing videos on a weekly basis. You will, in
partnership with the Marketing team, play a key role in ensuring all aspects of the
video creation are of the highest quality.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

● Visit Sims Library of Poetry to film videos in person on a weekly basis
● Edit videos and audio content
● Organize video shoots and communicate with all parties involved
● Collaborate and share files with Marketing team

General qualifications for the position:

● Experience with filming and video editing
● Ability to coordinate with others to organize a video shoot
● Some experience working with audio a plus!
● A team player who is organized and responsive
