Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

The Program Assistant will support the administrative needs of the department.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

Program Assistants will support the administrative needs of the department working with the Program Director, Lead Faculty, and Instructors. Duties may including updating and maintaining course materials, instructional resources, and the program Discord. Program Assistants may also work with students, answering student questions and helping to troubleshoot minor problems.

General qualifications for the position:

Program Assistants must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Program Assistants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have successfully completed at least 8 months of online classes. They must be based in CA or FL, work 5-20 hours per week, and have strong study skills and command of remote tools like Zoom and Discord. Program Assistants are expected to display a high degree of professionalism when working with supervisors and fellow students. Candidates for this position must be enrolled in the Writing for Film & Television program, or hold a previous degree in a related field.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

Peer tutors support fellow students through one-on-one and group tutoring services delivered through online methods.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

Peer Tutors will meet with WFT students individually and in groups via Zoom. They help clarify course lessons, projects, screenplay formatting, and course content and promote strong study skills. Tutors conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one and group tutoring sessions throughout the term as needed. Peer Tutors do not provide answers to assignments or line-by-line editing. Instead, they work with students to model writing, problem solving, and proof reading strategies, and to explain course-specific concepts in compliance with university academic honesty standards.

General qualifications for the position:

Peer Tutors must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Candidates should have a very strong command of professional screenplay formatting standards using Final Draft. Peer Tutors must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have successfully completed at least 12 months of online classes. They must be based in CA or FL, work 5-20 hours per week, and have strong study skills and command of remote tools like Zoom and Discord. Peer Tutors are expected to display a high degree of professionalism when working with supervisors and fellow students. Candidates for this position must be enrolled in the Writing for Film & Television program, or hold a previous degree in a related field.
