Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

Peer tutors support fellow students through one-on-one and group tutoring services delivered through online methods.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

Peer Tutors will meet with WFT students individually and in groups via Zoom. They help clarify course lessons, projects, screenplay formatting, and course content and promote strong study skills. Tutors conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one and group tutoring sessions throughout the term as needed. Peer Tutors do not provide answers to assignments or line-by-line editing. Instead, they work with students to model writing, problem solving, and proof reading strategies, and to explain course-specific concepts in compliance with university academic honesty standards.

General qualifications for the position:

Peer Tutors must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Candidates should have a very strong command of professional screenplay formatting standards using Final Draft. Peer Tutors must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have successfully completed at least 12 months of online classes. They must be based in CA or FL, work 5-20 hours per week, and have strong study skills and command of remote tools like Zoom and Discord. Peer Tutors are expected to display a high degree of professionalism when working with supervisors and fellow students. Candidates for this position must be enrolled in the Writing for Film & Television program, or hold a previous degree in a related field.

To help navigate students when they are having assignment related issues
Answer quick questions about design and technology

Guide students to answers they are seeking
Tutor students who may need a little extra push from a peer.

General qualifications for the position:

Have to have GPA of 3.0 or above
Need to have completed all courses prior to Portfolio I

Purpose or role of the position within the organization:

Entertainment Business Peer Tutor will support students with Entertainment Business courses through tutoring services.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:

• Support Entertainment Business students with tutoring services


• Act as an informed resource for all Entertainment Business students regarding matters related to the tutoring subject.


• Administrative duties associated with the position include, but are not limited to: assisting Entertainment Business Program Director’s with Orientation or other EB events.

General qualifications for the position:

• Completion of at least 4 terms

• Completion of the targeted academic subject with an A grade

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, faculty, and staff.

• Capacity for discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.

• Demonstrated record of reliability, maturity and academic excellence.

• Maintain a GPA of 3.0, remain in good standing at LAFS, and have a clear judicial history.
