The beat breakdown is one of the most important elements of a hit song— performing artist Leon Kittrell II will breakdown famous beats over the years, as well as a few student submitted songs. Infused with fun games like “Guess the Groove”, Leon will take us on a musical journey where we strip away the vocals and other instruments and focus solely on the drums & percussion of some of today’s biggest hits.”
To coincide with Juneteenth, we’re hosting a virtual culinary session that will not only walk us through popular movies about the black experience, but it will teach us how to make some of the delicious food featured in these movies. Hosted by Culinary Historian & Author Deah Berry Mitchell, you’ll enjoy making Hibiscus Lemonade from the Oscar® nominated movie, The Color Purple, Brenda’s ribs from the Oscar® Nominated Boyz in the Hood and delicious salad inspired by the Oscar® winning movie, If Beale Street Could Talk.

This month LARS LIVE will host Artists United, a variety show of music, film, animation, and EB students featuring hosts Tyler Beltran and MariPosa encouraging the support of fellow students and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
Join us for a virtual event celebrating women in post-production sound featuring Alumni Mehrnaz Mohabati and Angelina Faulkner. The ladies will be displaying how they “clean things up” using compression and EQ. They’ll share some of their most recent projects and detail how a professional goes about constructing their work. We’ll get into the challenges and differences with working in ADR vs production audio and working in documentary vs studio film and other specifics.
The show is LARS LIVE: “W.O.W. Women of Wonders” and will showcase all female inspired music and visual art. Our student host will also be doing a fun interview with Tammy Elliot as our female leader showcase for the event! You won’t want to miss this!

With the rise of diverse female driven content, these stories have directly contributed to the presence and overall growth of the digital media landscape. In this panel discussion, we’ve invited ladies from FBE/REACT, Buzzfeed and All Def Digital to talk about how they are shaping female voices and influencing female driven narratives in digital media.
