Breaking down THE SOUND OF METAL | The Los Angeles Film School

Breaking down THE SOUND OF METAL | The Los Angeles Film School

Did you watch The Sound Of Metal? This film had a unique challenge in sound in film. Sound is an essential element of any film that chooses to use it, but it’s especially important to Sound Of Metal.  Starring Riz Ahmed as Ruben, the drummer for a heavy-metal band whose world is turned inside out by sudden and dramatic hearing loss, the film puts you inside the character’s head so you experience his new reality along with him.
Join Oscar winner and LAFS Spotlight Inductee, Philip Bladh breaks down the sound in the film and how he worked with the director and sound team to create the immersive sound design to create a unique, empathetic viewing experience. You won’t want to miss this masterclass.

PRG: This is the Way: Our Journey Navigating Real-Time Pre-Viz on Set

Join us Tuesday 6/27 at 1:30pm pst in the B2 Theatre for a panel with PRG delving into a journey filled with unique challenges and remarkable solutions. We’ll take you on an adventure where we blend the magic of live action and CG content, no matter the environment or gear (just like our favorite bounty hunter). Our path involves the seamless integration of camera tracking, Unreal Engine, and cutting-edge servers, all working in harmony. With the skill of a Jedi, we achieve faster and more precise set-ups, as if guided by the Force itself. During our presentation we will have panelists discussing different aspects in Virtual Production, do a live demo on stage and leave time for an in depth Q&A. What’s different about shooting traditional versus virtual productions? Blending the magic of live action and CG content, no matter the environment or gear. Capture in 3D space so the background of the set can be changed while the camera movement and all the visual distortions of that action are maintained.
