APPLE MACOS INFORMATION - DO NOT UPGRADE JUST YET!

PLEASE READ THE COMPATIBILITY LIST FIRST BEFORE UPGRADING YOUR MAC

DO NOT UPGRADE TO MACOS 12 MONTEREY

Apple’s macOS 12 Monterey is the latest version of macOS and was announced for official public release on October 25, 2021. We are excited to start using the new software but, at the same time, are extremely cautious. Pro audio and music production users probably should not upgrade until all of their respective third-party software and hardware are officially supported by their respective manufacturers.

Please check below the list of which apps won’t work with Monterey:

Turn Off Auto Updates

Apple released macOS 11 Big Sur on November 12th, 2020. Current students who receive software and hardware from the music and audio production programs may now upgrade their Apple macOS to the latest version, Big Sur.

You Can Turn Off Auto Updates

DO NOT UPGRADE TO MACOS 11 BIG SUR

Please DO NOT upgrade to macOS Catalina just yet!

As some of you may be aware, Apple has released the Mac OS 10.15 Catalina. Currently, we cannot verify that all of the school-issued software will work on the new OS X release.  Please DO NOT update your OS until we have completed testing for all software which includes post-update. Updating your system before verification of software compatibility could result in missed classwork or homework. We will notify everyone when it is safe to upgrade.

Below is an article regarding more information about Apple macOS 10.15 Catalina Compatibility List.
