Second Annual Lyrics & Rhymes Battle

June 28 @ 4:00 pm
Campus Event
 It’s the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop so get hype for a night of unforgettable beats as Old School meets New School in an epic battle! Students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity as they have the option to use samples of 90s hits and turn them into their own unique beats. The submissions will be judged by old school Hip Hop icons Onyx and Marq Hawkins and new school producers Whitney Taber and the winner of LAFS last year’s lyrics battle, alumni Louisvilla. More special guests will be announced! Get ready to vibe to the beats and be inspired by the next generation of hip hop artists. This is a night you won’t want to miss, so bring your energy and let’s get ready to rumble!
– To be entered, fill out the Google sign-up sheet
– Submit 60-90 seconds of your best beats
– Reminder, you have the option to sample a 90s song, BUT it’s not required to enter 
– Judges will review your submission and determine your battle partner
– Show up, in person on June 28th, | 5:00pm PT prepared to battle
– Through feedback from the judges, and audience voting – winner will be chosen.

Jacques Thelemaque is an American screenwriter and director best known as the president of the Los Angeles film collective Filmmakers Alliance. He previously served on the board of directors for The Los Angeles Independent Film Festival (now Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival) and currently sits on the advisory board of the IFP Emerging Filmmaker Labs as well as the boards of the Downtown Film Festival and the Ashland Independent Film Festival.

Animation Alley A Conversation with Pixar Animation Studios, Andrew Atteberry

Andrew Atteberry is an Emmy® award-winning animator with more than 15 years of experience. Andrew began his career working at a small studio in Nashville where he contributed several animated segments for the PBS show Sesame Street. He then moved into film at Disney Feature Animation on the film, Frozen. Over the years, he has worked on films such as Cinderella, Goosebumps, and The Peanuts movie as well as the video game Disney Infinity. Andrew is currently an Animator at Pixar Animation Studios.
